If you’ve been following Ovafit for a while, you know how much I love sharing tips for managing PCOS like with my favorite inositol supplement Ovasitol. Ovasitol has been a game-changer for women dealing with PCOS symptoms like irregular periods, weight gain, acne, hair loss, and more stemming from insulin resistance, high androgens, and inflammation.
Yes, that means Ovasitol can help with pretty much all of a Cyster’s PCOS symptoms. But, here’s a little secret… Ovasitol isn’t just for women with PCOS. Yep, you read that right! Tons of women are starting to add a daily dose of Ovasitol to their daily supplement routines and experiencing the INCREDIBLE benefits it has on their bodies.
So, what exactly makes Ovasitol such a powerful supplement? Ovasitol is a unique blend of myo-inositol and d-chiro inositol, two naturally occurring nutrients that work together to balance hormones like thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), insulin, and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Unlike other supplements that have chemicals in them, Ovasitol is made out of vitamin B8! These nutrients are vital for metabolic and reproductive health in all women. You can also find them in whole foods like grains, nuts, fruits, and beans, but getting them in the right balance can be challenging especially if you want consistent results. That’s where a supplement comes in!
Today, I’m dedicating this post to breaking down the undeniable benefits of Ovasitol for ALL women, whether you’re managing PCOS or just want to feel your best. Let’s dive in!
Can I Take Ovasitol if I Don’t Have PCOS?
Yes! You can take Ovasitol even if you don’t have PCOS. As always, it’s a great idea to chat with your healthcare provider before adding any new supplement to your routine just to make sure it won’t interfere with other things you may be doing to improve your health.
While Ovasitol is my go-to recommendation for women with PCOS, inositol can offer amazing benefits for women without PCOS, too! It’s been shown to support reproductive health, boost mood, and help balance hormones making it a powerful addition to any wellness routine for women of reproductive age.
What are the Benefits of Ovasitol for Women without PCOS?
Improved Mood and Mental Health
Ovasitol can be a great support to improve your mood and overall mental well-being. Inositol, the key ingredient, has a direct link with neurotransmitters like serotonin (which makes you feel happy and calm) and dopamine (which makes you feel motivated.) It can also help calm feelings of anxiety or depression. One study shows that women with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) showed significant improvement in their mental health when they took Ovasitol.
When your mood is uplifted, every part of your life can feel a bit brighter!
Fertility and Reproductive Health Support
Did you know that 11% of women experience fertility challenges in the United States? Taking Ovasitol could help support fertility and overall reproductive health, especially if you’re trying to get pregnant. One study shows that myo-inositol is a key supporter of fertility. It works by improving egg quality, supporting energy production, and promoting mitochondrial health in egg cells.
Taking Ovasitol can also encourage regular periods during your menstrual cycle, too. It does this by reducing androgen levels (which are male sex hormones) to promote healthy ovarian function and consistent ovulation. If you’re trying to get pregnant, take a look at my list of supplements to boost fertility in addition to Ovasitol.
Improved Insulin Sensitivity
Insulin resistance is when our bodies cannot properly process glucose for energy and maintain stable blood sugar levels. Instead of processing this glucose, our bodies hold onto it and store it as fat, making it very difficult to lose weight. While insulin resistance is super common in women with PCOS (80% to be exact), women without PCOS can have it too. It’s estimated that more than 80 million women in the US experience insulin resistance, which can lead to long-term issues such as type 2 diabetes and hypertension.
Ovasitol can directly improve insulin sensitivity in women’s bodies to manage blood sugar levels and improve weight management. Myo-inositol and d-chiro-inositol, which make up Ovasitol, help signal insulin pathways. This means they tell your cells to absorb and process the glucose instead of hanging onto it. And when you address insulin resistance, there is a huge domino effect in how your body functions and improves.
Hormonal Balance and PMS Relief
When you get your insulin levels in check, it can help your body balance out-of-whack hormones, like estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone. These hormones can cause severe PMS symptoms like mood swings, bloating, cramping, heavy flow, and cravings. Luckily, Ovasitol can help improve insulin sensitivity and improve hormone balance, both of which will help get your body back in order!
Improved Acne and Skin Health
If you struggle with acne or redness, Ovasitol might be just what you need to support clearer, healthier skin. One of Ovasitol’s key benefits is its ability to lower high androgen levels (remember, the male hormones), which are often elevated in PCOS and can lead to oily skin. By reducing these hormones, like testosterone, you may notice your acne start to fade. Plus, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, Ovasitol can help reduce redness and irritation, leaving your skin looking and feeling healthier overall.
Better Cognitive Function and Focus
Because myo-inositol, one of the main components of Ovasitol, helps regulate neurotransmitters, you may experience better motivation and focus. And, since Ovasitol directly improves insulin resistance, you may feel less brain fog or fatigue and more mental clarity throughout your day. That’s a huge lifestyle win in my book!
Weight Management
Did you know that Ovasitol helps with weight loss? It is one of my favorite PCOS supplements for weight loss, but women without PCOS can see results if they struggle with insulin resistance! Because insulin resistance can cause the body to store glucose as fat instead of converting it into energy, it can be super difficult to lose weight. With Ovasitol, the body can use that glucose instead of holding onto it, leading to weight loss.
Ovasitol can also promote appetite control and calorie burning. A majority of people who take Ovasitol reported fewer cravings for carbohydrates, which are known for spiking insulin levels.
Improved Thyroid Function
The thyroid is a small gland in your neck that produces hormones that control your energy levels and metabolism. If you have hypothyroidism, it means your thyroid isn’t producing enough hormones, causing your body to slow down, gain weight, and feel tired. While Ovasitol does not directly affect the thyroid, it does improve insulin sensitivity, which can improve thyroid function.
Supported Cholesterol Levels
Women with insulin resistance often have higher lipid levels, such as cholesterol and triglycerides. This can happen when their livers find it challenging to manage these lipid levels and produce more fats in response to insulin resistance. If you ignore high lipid levels, you could experience long-term conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and chronic inflammation. So, when you take Ovasitol, which targets insulin sensitivity, you’ll also support balanced cholesterol and triglyceride levels and avoid developing serious conditions.
How to Take Ovasitol
Before adding a new supplement to your daily regimen, it’s important to talk to your healthcare provider, especially if you are on medications for your thyroid, diabetes, or other conditions. Once you get the go-ahead; taking Ovasitol is super easy!
Ovasitol comes in a powdered form that you can mix with water, Testosterone Relief Tea, or smoothie. Just avoid mixing it with carbonated drinks. With the scoops provided inside (you might have to dig around for it!) measure one scoop and add it to 8oz of your fluid of choice. I recommend having it with a meal so that your blood sugars don’t drop too low. Typically I’ll have my first drink with breakfast, and my last with lunch (so two total in one day.)
When you first start taking Ovasitol, you may want to start with just one serving a day (which is around 2,000 mg). Then you can work your way up to having it twice a day. This allows your body to adjust to the new supplement gradually as you build it up to the full dose.
How Long Should I Take Ovasitol Before Seeing Results?
There’s no quick fix when it comes to balancing hormones or improving insulin sensitivity as these take time and consistency. With Ovasitol, most women without PCOS start noticing benefits after around three months of regular use. For insulin sensitivity, you may need closer to six months to see significant results. Patience is key, so don’t stop listening to your body and taking note of your symptoms…the changes can be well worth the wait!
Is Ovasitol Safe to Take Long-Term?
Yes, many women take Ovasitol long-term to support hormone balance and insulin sensitivity.
Side Effects of Ovasitol
While most women who take Ovasitol don’t experience side effects, it’s important to be aware of these mild side effects before starting a new supplement.
Digestive Issues
Taking Ovasitol on an empty stomach might cause mild discomfort, such as an upset stomach, bloating, or gas. To avoid this, try taking it with a meal and start with a smaller dose to help your body gradually adjust.
Low Blood Sugar
Since Ovasitol helps improve insulin sensitivity, and as I mentioned earlier, you may notice a slight drop in blood sugar levels, headaches, or fatigue if you don’t drink it with meals. This is also usually the case if you take medication for diabetes or are hypoglycemic, so it’s important to talk to your doctor before proceeding. If you find that this doesn’t improve even after taking Ovasitol with meals, try doing half a scoop instead.
