About Tallene
At 18, a doctor told me I had PCOS, handed me a birth control prescription, and sent me on my way. No explanation. No plan. Just “this is your life now.”
So I did what every woman with PCOS is told to do. I ate less. I worked out harder. I pushed through the exhaustion and the cravings that never quit. And the scale didn’t budge. If anything, I felt worse, and quietly, I started to fear I’d never be able to have children. It’s a lonely thing, doing everything right and still losing.
Then I started my Registered Dietitian training, and everything I thought I knew fell apart. I finally understood what was actually happening in my body: insulin resistance and hormone imbalances that made “eat less, move more” a losing strategy from the start. My body wasn’t broken. The advice was.
So I changed the approach entirely. I removed gluten and dairy and built my meals around balancing my blood sugar. And it worked. The weight came off. The cravings faded. My energy returned, my cycle regulated, and for the first time since that doctor’s office at 18, I recognized myself again.
I couldn’t stay quiet about it. I started sharing what worked, and a handful of women became thousands, then a community of over a million Cysters learning to lose weight in a way that finally works with their PCOS instead of fighting it. That community is the reason my husband Sirak and I created OvaFit and The Cysterhood.
Today I’m a new mom to our son Arda, making gluten and dairy free dinners with Sirak every night. Not because I have to, but because this is the life that gave me my health back. I’m living proof of everything I teach.
About Sirak
Most people don’t go from nuclear power plants to PCOS workouts. Sirak did.
He spent years as an engineer, designing components for nuclear facilities. But before any of that, he was a personal trainer, and that combination turned out to matter. When he turned his attention to PCOS, he didn’t just see symptoms. He saw a system, and he understood the mechanics of the body in a way most people in this space simply don’t. That’s the thinking behind the slow weighted workouts he designs today, built specifically for women whose PCOS makes weight loss feel impossible.
I wish I’d known him sooner. For years I was grinding through brutal cardio sessions that left me depleted, ravenous, and somehow heavier than before I started.
Then on one of our first dates, he took me to the gym. He walked me through his method: slow, controlled, weighted movements instead of the frantic cardio I was used to. When we finished, I kept waiting for the crash. It never came. No cortisol spike, no post-workout cravings, just calm, steady energy I’d never felt after exercise in my life. Even better, it did what all those hours of cardio never could. The scale finally started moving.
When the pandemic arrived, Sirak made the leap. He left engineering behind and we built The Cysterhood together, a home for women with PCOS who were tired of recycled advice and wanted resources actually backed by science.
Since then, more than 500,000 women have used our approach to lose weight sustainably, restore their periods, and bring their hormones back into balance.
And Most Importantly…
We’ve helped women with PCOS lose weight,
reduce bloating, and manage symptoms.
8 Things You Didn’t Know About Us
On our first date, Sirak ordered me a gluten-free drink served in a gold pineapple cup—and I knew right then, this man understood the assignment.
He guards the garden and photobombs our photos and bosses us around.
What are the odds of meeting another Armenian on Tinder? What are the odds he’d turn out to be passionate about PCOS alongside me? We even love the same food. It all just clicked. It’s kismet. So naturally… that became the name of our pup.
Setting boundaries and refusing to suffer? That’s kinda always been my thing. So when I got diagnosed with PCOS, I had the same energy: Just take birth control? No. Let’s figure this out.
He judges every brunch spot by their hollandaise—and yes, he has a running ranking system.
Filming PCOS content and discovering the best gluten and dairy free bakeries around the world. We even did a meet and greet in London!
It’s always gluten and dairy free…unless Sirak wants cheese.
Not sure if it’s the voice or the chill vibe—but I’ll take it.
